Earthquake/Tsunami Message

Keihin North America Community Statement
March 16, 2011
We are shocked and saddened by the tragic events that occurred in Japan. Keihin North America extends our deepest sympathies to those who have been affected by this disaster. This tragedy hits close to home for Keihin, as we have over 60 associates throughout North America that have immediate family in Japan. Fortunately, all associates have been able to make contact with their family members and all are safe.
Our sister plants in Japan are still working to contact all of their associates. Due to the extensive infrastructure damage throughout Northeastern Japan, this task has been difficult. As of Tuesday morning, there were still 10 associates who were unaccounted for.
Keihin has seventeen facilities located throughout Japan. Eleven of them are in the Miyagi and Tochigi Prefectures, which are areas that were most impacted by the earthquake and tsunami. Although these facilities received varying degrees of damage, efforts are already underway to recover operations. However, these efforts are somewhat limited by continuing utility outages and low availability of gasoline.
There is no immediate impact to operations at any of our Keihin North America locations, though a number of our component parts are sourced from Japan. Supplier recovery efforts, logistics and inventories are being closely monitored. For the majority of our North American production, current inventory levels are sufficient for us to maintain normal operations through mid-April.
Keihin North America appreciates the concern and support that has come from our community and business partners. Those who wish to help with Japan relief efforts are encouraged to make donations to the American Red Cross.
Sincerely,
Nobuaki “Nobu” Suzuki
President & CEO, Keihin North America, Inc.
